NELA members and non-profit organizations have received a wave of requests for legal assistance related to race, ethnicity, national origin and religion in the context of the situation in Palestine and Israel. Join us to be up to date on legal arguments that are being developed and deployed in this setting. Join Shelly Anand, executive director of Sur Legal Collaborative; Richard Blum, employment lawyer and member of the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys; and Mahir Nisar, principal of Nisar Law Group P.C., to explore legal theories for protecting vulnerable employees against workplace harassment and differential treatment rooted in racial or national origin animus or stereotyping and to examine whether employer conduct may constitute a violation of the basic right of workers to communicate and organize under the NLRA and NYLL 201(d).
