Call to Action
6/16/2020
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Event Description
In furtherance of our statement of solidarity and intention to condemn and combat racial injustice in America, NELA/NY will host a Call to Action this Tuesday, June 16, from 4 – 5:30 PM via Zoom. John Beranbaum, Marjorie Mesidor, Laurie Morrison, and Bernadette Jentsch will be facilitating this conversation about concrete steps that can be taken by NELA/NY.

We hope to discuss several proposals on how NELA/NY can harness its expertise to advance genuine racial equality focusing on: (1) educating the judiciary as well as our membership on bias and structural racism; (2) programming that will equip our members with best practices in race discrimination litigation; and (3) supporting enhanced legislation addressing structural racism.   Please note that the Legislative Committee will be handling our legislative efforts as some bills are time-sensitive, so please contact Miriam Clark directly at mclark@rebalaw.com.

If you are unable to join the conversation on Tuesday but have ideas or suggestions, please send them to Bernadette Jentsch at bjentsch@mfjlegal.org by 12:00 p.m. Friday June 12 for them to be included in the discussion.

We urge any and all members to join in the conversation and commit their time and knowledge to advancing these initiatives.
